1.
My time has come I’m leaving home It’s not like anyone’s gonna feel sad when I am gone I made my mark I broke some hearts There’s plenty of fathers shotgun mad, I’m moving on Look in my eyes I’m worldly wise You’re soon gonna see that I have learned a trick or two Step out my way Cos now’s my day I’m coming so fast there ain’t a thing you can do There’s pickings out there for a guy like me Gonna raise my game and you will see So you heard all there is to tell? The hell you have, I’m something else So now you know This is no show There is no fence or lock or door I won’t get through Get out the way Cos now’s my day I’m coming so fast there ain’t a thing you can do Chorus x 2 There’s pickings out there for a guy like me Gonna raise my game and you will see So you heard all there is to tell? The hell you have, I’m something else.
2.
Tell me how we got this far I let you down at every step I’m Running from your bed to the bar You forgive and I’ll forget Sit me up and lift my head Put the bottle in my hand I’m Crawling from the bar to your bed We can talk when I can stand Look at what you have in front of you Look at what you’re holding in your hands Look who’s always standing by you Who do people call the luckiest man What is there that’s not in front of you? What is it you don’t have in your hands? Who else could you want beside you? Can’t you see you are the luckiest man? If I’m gonna do this (I will be) In it up to my neck (but I) Just dip my toe in (while I’m) Making out I’m getting wet Been trying us on (for size and) I thought we would fit (but we just) Look good in the part (and I want) Something deeper out of it Isn’t this what you were looking for? Is there somewhere better you can go? Is there somewhere you’ll be happier? All you need is here you just don’t know Funny thing with dreams is They look different when you wake up I Thought this was all I needed But it’s not enough to make up for it
3.
Who’ll offer a hand From your merry-go-round? With all this much fun Surely there will be one We’ll run and we’ll dance We’ll play dare and chance We’ll have such a time And all of your friends can be mine And after farewells There’ll be tall tales to tell Of great derring-do so please Try to speak fondly of me When I’m here alone I remember my home And I can recall How my kith and kin would Would cherish this place And we all as one would Share our food and our faith Now that’s history So what of today? They wait in a line For the spade and the coin There’s food on the plate There’s drinking til late They have such a time But their eyes are different from mine And now I wait here For in time you’ll come near Though you will not see How I run to keep your company When I’m here alone I remember my home And I can recall How my kith and kin would Would cherish this place And we all as one would Share our food and our faith They’ll say I am brave And worry I’m safe But come with me, no We part when I go
4.
Can’t remember when I looked back Can’t remember when I turned aside Can’t remember what I am missing Ask myself why don’t I run? Been filling my eyes with silver Been filling my pockets with sand Been filling my hands with trinkets So weighed down that I can’t run I been marching I been walking I been creeping I been crawling I been stumbling I been falling When I should have run You can look the other way You can look like you seen it all You can look the innocent Just watch me run If only what I touch would break Cos all that I have here is fake For mine if not for heaven’s sake It would be better gone And those of you for whom this way Is cause enough then I would say Think on, because you’ve had your day You would be better gone You’ve had your pound of flesh and more Your heads are rich, your hearts are poor My legs are weak, my hands are sore I would be better gone I’ll give up everything I own I’ll swap the fat for skin and bone If I must, I’ll be alone I am the better gone So this is where I get and go Broad for narrow, high for low Deep for shallow, fast for slow I will be better gone I’ll take the hammer to the rock I’ll break the hold of every lock I’ll beat the walls until they crack I’ll fill your eyes with fire and flak I’ll fill your ears with crash and roar You will taste it in the air And then I will be gone
5.
Got our guard well up Got to watch our step Can’t afford a slip With so much at stake What a pair we make Swop a nervous glance Brush each other’s hand Have to take a chance With so much at stake Not sure where to start Playing our best cards Try a bit too hard With so much at stake What a pair we make Take a look at me There’s my heart upon my sleeve What I feel is true I want to be with you We were meant to be/With one another We were meant to be/Here for each other We were meant to be/In love together We were meant to be/Lovers forever That electric touch Didn’t dare so much Too afraid to rush With so much at stake What a pair we make Suddenly we find Fingers intertwined Holding on this time With so much at stake Speaking with our eyes Knowing with our smiles Sharing with our minds What a pair we make What a pair we make Take a look at me There’s my heart upon my sleeve What I feel is true I want to be with you
6.
Don’t think back Our stories are too dark If I can Ever sleep I will not wake without your Breath on my face Wet with the tears of our days If I can Ever sleep I will not wake without you Keeping me close ‘Til black and blue turn to rose If I can Ever sleep I will not wake without you Walk in the sun We’ll see no darkness again If I can Ever sleep I will not wake without you
7.
We make a pretty picture in flagrante delicto Much more of this we’ll set the place alight We should get out on the town and Have ourselves a smooch around Make a bit of noise and give ourselves a fright Got a grin across our faces from lingering embraces And knowing glances keep us laughing too What a way to start a party Set to max and getting flirty Some more of this, no telling what we’ll do Shouting out from far to near Turn your head and you will see us Arm in arm Hand in hand Gonna run the town ragged til there’s no-one standing Toe to toe Cheek to cheek Gonna live our lives twenty-seven days a week Forgotten all the days and lost count of all the ways To screw it up and leave a mess behind Now our journey is complete So loosen up those dancing feet Do a Travolta been a long time please be kind Reaching out from far to near Turn your face and you will see us Twenty-seven days a week, we’ll never get a wink of sleep And no time like the present to begin Lucky stars foretell no ending Cos our signs are still ascending All the ducks are in alignment for a win Look around you, far and near Lift your eyes, you will see us Chorus x 2
8.
Put your drink down Come outside with me There is something I want you to see Warm my face with your sweet breath Hold me close beneath a Tyneside sunset Friday nights we Tell a week of tales Fill our glasses, laugh at all our fails These are friends beside us every step Walking home beneath a Tyneside sunset Sit yourself beside me Hold my hand and tell me How you feel about me I just want to hear you say That you see what I see That you feel what I feel That you need what I need That you’re never far away Ruby river Drifting glassy cold Quiet window jewels, grey and gold Here’s a picture that we won’t forget You with me beneath a Tyneside sunset Let’s stay out Until the colours dim And the quiet of the night comes in Here and now is where I’m happiest Loving you beneath a Tyneside sunset

about

"A heartfelt romantic story... A genius move which combines both the iconic aesthetics of the North East and its unique culture" - NARC Magazine December 2020

"Melodic story-telling album in which the tracks personify the rivers of the North East" - NEVolume Magazine, November 2020

Three Tynes is a unique eight-song genre-hopping story in which the rivers that make up this great waterway in North East England are imagined as lovers who leave their homes to find fulfilment. The music is inspired by the nature of the rivers and the lands they come from - but not in a folky way. These are indie rock/pop songs that take a modern and refreshing approach, with inventive melodies and intelligent lyrics. The songs are about the part of England where Will Good and The Mattes live and work, inspired by their many years of kayaking the water from source to sea.
